The 2018 Senior Grand Finals were convened at Parliament House on Sunday 9 September 2018.
The Senior A Grand Final debate was closely contested between Seymour College for the affirmative and St Peter's College for the negative. The topic for the debate was 'That we should not send non-violent offenders to prison'. St Peter's College were successful in a 3-2 split decision between adjudicators, and congratulations to Shiva Mukherjee who was awarded best speaker.
The Senior B Grand Final involved students from Wilderness School for the affirmative and St Peter's College for the negative. The topic for the debate was 'That we should bring back capital punishment'. St Peter's College were awarded the debate, with Oliver Linden awarded best speaker.

The 2018 Junior Grand Finals were held at the District Court of South Australia.
The Junior Grand Final between Wilderness School and St Peter's College was won by St Peter's College in a closely fought debate on the topic 'That organ donation should be compulsory'.
The Intermediate B Grand Final between Seymour College and St Ignatius College was won by Seymour College in a split decision from a panel of three adjudicators. The topic for this debate was 'That voting should be voluntary'.
The Intermediate A Grand Final between Wilderness School and Immanuel College was won by Wilderness School in a split decision from a panel of three adjudicators. The topic for this debate was 'That sporting clubs should be punished for the misbehaviour of their fans'. Eddie Swinden from Immanuel College was awarded best speaker for this debate.
Congratulations to all teams who participated in the junior competition this year, and particular thanks to our patron the Honourable Chief Justice of South Australia, and the Honourable Justice Doyle who attended the Junior Grand Finals on the Chief Justice's behalf.
The State Team Trials for the 2019 South Australian State Debating Team will be held on Saturday 6 October, 13 October and 27 October at the University of Adelaide (in the Lower Napier building).
Trials will commence at 1.00pm.
